Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Officer, your responsibilities will cover a wide range of essential financial tasks that are crucial for the smooth operation of our business. Key duties include:
- Invoice Management: You will be responsible for processing and managing invoices, ensuring they are accurate and paid on time. This will include tracking outstanding invoices and ensuring that all transactions are accounted for.
- Payment Processing: You will prepare and process payments to vendors, ensuring timely and accurate transactions. This includes coordinating with the relevant teams to ensure smooth payments and preparing weekly payment runs for authorization and bank entry.
- Expense Reporting: You will assist in managing and reviewing expense reports, ensuring that all expenses are in line with company policies and budgets. You will also work to identify and address any discrepancies in expense reports.
- Bookkeeping & Financial Record-Keeping: You will assist with day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and maintain accurate financial records for the company. This includes managing transactions, updating ledgers, and reconciling financial data.
- Reconciliations: You will conduct daily bank reconciliations and monthly credit card reconciliations to ensure all financial data is accurate and aligned with the company’s financial records. You will also assist with month-end closing processes to ensure all accounts are reconciled and up-to-date.
- Budget Tracking and Reporting: You will support the tracking of budgets across various projects, ensuring financial data is accurately reported. You will assist in monitoring project budgets to ensure that spending stays within approved limits.
- VAT Accounting: You will be responsible for managing VAT accounting within Xero, handling both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. This will involve ensuring VAT compliance and maintaining accurate records for tax purposes.
- Financial Systems Improvement: You will actively look for opportunities to streamline and improve financial systems and processes. Your insights will help ensure that our financial operations are as efficient and effective as possible.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will need to bring a combination of technical financial skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a high-energy environment. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience working in finance or accounting, with a strong understanding of VAT accounting. Experience working in the entertainment or creative industries is a plus, but not essential.
- Skills: Proficiency in Xero, Excel, and Google Sheets is essential for success in this role. You should be comfortable using these tools to manage financial data, generate reports, and track expenses.
- Multi-Currency Transactions: Experience handling multi-currency transactions is highly desirable, as our business operates on a global scale, and you will be responsible for managing payments and reconciliations in multiple currencies.
- Attention to Detail: You must have a sharp eye for detail and accuracy, ensuring that all financial processes are completed with precision. A strong commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records is a must.
- Problem-Solving Skills: You will need to be proactive in identifying and resolving financial discrepancies, streamlining processes, and finding solutions to challenges that may arise.
- Adaptability: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment is essential. The entertainment industry moves quickly, and you’ll need to stay flexible and ready to tackle any challenge that comes your way.
